Shop This Summer Style

I don’t know about you, but I’m super excited for warm weather and sunny days ahead! Whether you live in a freezer ❄️ or a sauna 🔥, I’m sure we all look forward to some summer styles!

Everybody has different tastes, which I totes appreciate, but I love to give my followers some fun summer ideas to kick off the summer! Since this month’s theme is Fashion and Fun, what better way to kick off the summer than with loads of ideas on how to maximize your extra free time?

Click the read more button to see and shop my summer styles! I even got my little sister to photoshoot with me in some of these styles, which was a huge blessing and lotsa fun. I love my sister 💕.

Maxi Romper

I love this maxi romper (and apparently so does my younger sister). If you live somewhere cold, this outfit is not advisable. But I like the easy breathable material, stylish patterns, and cute l👀k! (I tried the eye emoji thing…it’s kinda funny!)

Casual To Dressy

My sister and I both dressed up a casual outfit to wear to church, which was really cool. We did a photo shoot out by the garage to show you guys some simple outfits you can wear…literally anywhere. (Sorry my dad is like in the background ugh 😣)

To shop my sister’s look, click any of the links:

  • I couldn’t find the EXACT shirt for my sister but here’s a similar T-shirt
  • Jeans
  • As a bonus, I’ll throw in the Purse

To shop my look, click any of the links:

  • Jean jacket
  • I couldn’t find my EXACT shirt (I bought it in-store) but here’s a similar T-shirt
  • These are not quite the exact jeans but I own this pair of Jeans

You can’t get my jewelry (sorry….not sorry 😝) because I got mine custom-made by a metalworker in my area. She only does local orders because she needs to fit people if they want to order something like a ring, and you’d need to go to her shop to get fitted. Use your own favorite accessories…it’ll work the same magic.

Cargo Dress

This dress has become a fun favorite over the last couple weeks. I personally think the length is pretty modest, although not everyone would agree, since it comes above the knee. If the length doesn’t work with your convictions, grab a pair of black leggings and throw ’em underneath the dress. I do that when it’s colder so I can wear it year round, but you can put leggings underneath if you feel more comfortable that way. 😄

You can buy this fun cargo dress at Old Navy by clicking on the photo.

Flowery Romper

Remember that post when we talked about modesty, and I showed you examples of modest and immodest outfits? Well, I do! I showed you guys a jean romper, and said that a romper was one of the easiest and most fun ways to dress modestly, because it’s all one piece! I have a favorite romper of my own. (But I don’t have a picture of me in it)

I also have a favorite flowery jumper. Check it out.

I know I spoke a bit ill of spaghetti straps earlier, but in some cases, like dressy clothes, they are all you have. You can’t see it through the photo, but my mint green bra (which I selected specifically to wear this outfit with it) is showing under the straps of the jumper. If you have a strapless bra, you could wear that also, but everybody’s body is different not everybody has options so I don’t think it’s immodest if your straps show. If you pair the colors correctly, you won’t have problems. Most people didn’t notice my bra straps at all…they coordinated so well with my outfit people’s eyes were immediately drawn to the flowers and my shoes, which I talk about further down.

I got this romper and jumper very recently from the girls section of Target. You can shop the romper here and a similar jumper also here.

Crop Top Made Modest

You didn’t think it was possible, did ya? 😏

Crop tops can be made modest with this simple hack. Throw a white tank (or black, depending on the vibe of the outfit) and then put on your crop top. No belly exposed.

I wish I could tell you where to get this top because it’s so dang awesome, but I can’t. COZ I GOT IT FROM DISNEY YO. 🐭 🎡 🎢 🎠 🎆 🎉 DISNEY!

If you like wearing crop tops but are concerned about modesty, try slipping a tank underneath. It works wonders.

Bermuda All The Way

Are you frustrated with all the short shorts kids throw on today, and wish stores would give you more options to work with? Scared that layering with leggings will be tacky? Well, let me introduce you to the bermuda short!

I got mine from Tractr, but the modesty of their newer styles and even the sanity is a little questionable now. I recommend this other brand, from Justice.

My sister dropped by to model some Bermuda shorts as well! These you can get at Target….that’s where she got hers!

You know you wanna shop….

Lounge Outfit

Sometimes you need a break. Especially if you’re a major hustling teen boss like myself. Then you need a break all. the. time. Of course, I often take my breaks while working, but sometimes I really need a break. Like really need to step away from the blog or the novel, and nap or drink cocoa or jump on my trampoline.

On days like this, I like to get into a comfortable, totes modest lounge outfit. People think that if you’re in the comfort of your own home, you get to take it all off, but I mean really? Most people have a guy in the house at least once in awhile, and do you really want to be strutting around wearing some off-the-chain clothing? I don’t.

So grab a pair of gray joggers, a comfy tee with good, clean language on it, and a cup of cocoa! You’ll be glad you did.

Dancers Dancers

I picked up a pair of these gray shorts from Old Navy. They are super soft and comfy…great for the active dancer or gymnast! You can put it on over a leotard, especially if you’re not keen on showing your undeez during ballet class! 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾

Screen Shot 2018-05-28 at 2.31.03 PM.png

The sweatshirt I’m wearing is apparel from the studio. We were celebrating our final class before dress rehearsal, so they asked all the dancers to wear studio apparel only! You can wear any hoodie, sweatshirt, or tee with these gray shorts and you’d still look fooooiiiiiine. 👌🏾

Flippin’ Flip Flops

Flip flops. You wear them everywhere. At the beach. At the pool. At the park. At an event.

WAIT WHAT? An event?

Yeah, you heard me right. You can style your flips to wear at an event, like to church or a casual party. These are the flips I wore under my green jumper!

These Target dressy flip flops are both cheap and cute. They have straps that are the hue of a metallic seaside. You can get them at Target in different kinds and colors. Then throw on a romper, jumper or dress and hit the deck! Everyone will ask where you got your style tips from!

(You don’t have to mention me if they ask…I mean you could 😊)

Jean Clothing + My New Period Proof Undeez

We went shopping at Target and the minute I saw this, I wanted it. I saw this on a movie once, and I really like wearing clothes that movie stars wear. 😂

If you like this jean tie shirt, you can get it at Target.

Screen Shot 2018-05-30 at 9.53.59 AM.png

Under my outfit, I’m wearing this new period-proof underwear from KnixTeen.

On their website, they explain that “Knixteen ‘Oh-No’ Proof Technology™ is like having a really thin panty liner built right in, saving you and your pants from life-ruining leaks.”

I haven’t started getting my period yet, but I’m sure most of you have (because you all are normalllll 😭 😭 😭). Just kidding, I’ve stopped worrying about it. I’m too busy with enjoying my summer to wonder why I’m blooming 🌷 late.

So I encourage you to try some out for yourself. My mom has Knix “adult” panties and she said they make that time-of-the-month so much less crazy. I’m glad I chanced to find these products before my monthly period starts, so I can be well-prepared 😄.

Screen Shot 2018-05-30 at 10.10.31 AM.png

Try the “Oh-No Proof” Boyshort from KnixTeen and I hope you like it!

Hooded Dress

Are you an athletic nut? You’re into sports or just like looking as though you are? Maybe you should step into a hooded Terry dress.

In this outfit, which has a hood at the back, you’ll feel both stylish and sporty. Since it is a more modest option then a crop top and leggings, you can stand in confidence with this one.

Modest Shirt With A Good Message

Modesty isn’t just about not showing cleavage or something. It’s also about the clothes you wear. If you’re wearing a tee with a ghost or an offensive word on it, are you truly dressing modestly? No. I enjoy seeing the shirts in the stores that have stayed true to values, choosing to imprint good messages on their shirts instead of “f-bombs” or ghosts.

Hi sister 👋🏾

I love this shirt’s message so so much. We bought it at Target, and we know you’ll like it too. So get it, and start every day like it’s a fresh new start to life. 😋

Always Wearing Camo

I feel like I’m always wearing green, ‘specially camouflage green.

I’ve always been a fan of loose fitting shorts. And camouflage green. This outfit seemed to combine the two so well and I fell in love—instantly.

You can shop my shorts from Target, by the way.

Still Looking Like I Work Out

I am a very active person. Sitting at the computer and typing takes a lot of work 😆😆.  But even though I’m not a workout addict, I like to dress like I am. It’s comfy and cute…and modest.

Seen girls wearing crop hoodies and always said you didn’t wanna be them? Me neither. But when I saw this shirt, I was all for it. I knew just what to do. When I put it on, I slipped a tank underneath for full coverage. Voilà! A modest workout outfit! And I didn’t even need to sweat, ahaha!

Grab a comfy, cute, Island Daze crop from Taaaargeettt!

Sweaters and Style

When it’s cold outside but you have a favorite summer outfit you really want to wear, what do you do?

Duh. You put on a sweater, like me and my sister did today.

I’m sporting more of a black vibe, while my sister is wearing white like a boss. Depending on your skin tone, either one may stylistically hate you, or both, or maybe you can actually wear both styles.

Whatever it is that you like, don’t be discouraged when it gets gloomy. Reach for a sweater and some stylish pants. And if you don’t like my low cut shirt, button up the front of the sweater. But I certainly like my shirt.

To shop my outfit, click the links below:

  • You can grab a simple and cute black sweater from literally anywhere. Here’s a brand.
  • You know you like my shirt, so get it.
  • These black pants from Target are one-of-a-kind, and you KNOW you want some! So get some!

Today I Look Like A Painter

I probably look like I painted the house. But that seems to be the new style these days! I just love rocking these olive green overalls, and the paint splatters totally add to the magic. I made them modest by adding a T-shirt underneath, since some people just wear overalls with a sports bra or something. Not only is it immodest, it looks sooo tacky. I avoid being either with a tee underneath.

So what do you think? Maybe you wanna shop these overalls! Well go ahead, I got ’em from Target! (I get almost everything from Target…😜)

Let Them Be Little

I was actually a little self conscious about putting on this outfit.

The shirt I’m wearing is a “hand-me-up” from my younger sister (Grace) from when she was eight or nine years old. Now mind you, I’m thirteen. I was in a rush to grab a shirt and when I put it on, I was like “Oh no––I look like a kindergartner!” I loved the shorts, but I wasn’t sure with my shirt.

Then I realized that I really loved the outfit. I mean REALLY loved it. I wore it in front of EVERYONE. I totally went back in time and dressed a little younger, but I loved it.

So grab my outfit by clicking on the links below:

Criss Cross Back Shirt + American Indie-pendence

Fourth of July is coming up soon (whoop whoop!) and for the first time in quite a long time, I got flag gear.

I’m sporting the red-white-and-blue emblem with my white tank and U.S. flag shorts. But there’s a fun little surprise on the back of my shirt that you can’t see. Ready?

Whoa! Criss-cross back shirt!

I know, I know, wearing a criss-cross back shirt is super controversial. Some say it’s immodest. Some say it’s perfectly acceptable. My Mom bought it for me and my Dad allows me to wear it, so I guess it’s okay in my house…but if you don’t like it, I’m not one to judge. Everybody does what they want to.

Just so you know, there are different levels of criss-cross back shirt. Shirts wear the criss-cross goes all the way down the back are immodest in my opinion––but you are entitled to think otherwise! I’m fine with criss-cross near the neckline of the shirt. You can see my bra under the third “X,” but I think that’s okay….🙃

So grab my outfit by clicking on the links below:

  • Unfortunately, I couldn’t find my shirt, but you can grab this nearly identical one instead!
  • My shorts are bae AND they are available…so you’re gonna wanna get a pair before they’re not available!

Blue Like A Boss

Yes, we were in the airport. You might remember this post about our Utah trip. I took this photo the day we left. I apparently look super good in blue. Maybe it’s my chocolate babe complexion. Anyway…

Blue is good for me, and blue might be good for you too! So try it!

Raglan Tee

When it’s cold outside and the lights are low, but it’s summertime, and kinda hot so you need a shirt that’s 3/4s long, grab a Raglan tee and sing this song.

My Mom got me a Raglan tee in Utah during Convention. I think they only sell it at the Young Living farms, because I checked their online store and they didn’t have it! But you can grab a regular raglan tee here.

“Wait Zella! Raglan tees are immodest! You said they’re 3/4s long…aren’t we dressing as though we’re worth it?” Hahaha 😝 I mean 3/4 sleeve, not 3/4 length shirt! The shirt (if you buy the right type) goes all the way down lengthwise, but the sleeves do not. If you think that’s immodest, you can go ahead, but I’m gonna wear this raglan tee as the summer winds down.

You guys, thank you SO SO MUCH for reading through this post. I hope you gained some fashion tips that you will use later on! I always hope you saw how easy, affordable and fun it is to dress modestly.

Before we go, I want to show you a funny video (from Studio C, OBVS) about a group of girls who attempted to dress modestly but failed miserably to do so. Maybe don’t go so far as them!

Hope you had loads of fun hanging out with me, and doing a little shopping!

  1. This was a great post!! I dress very modestly- we have to wear a skirt for our uniforms, but they’re short so I usually wear leggings or tights with them. This post proves you can be fashionable AND modest. Also, all of the outfits are really cute. 😊

  2. Very nice post! I like all the outfits, they really fit you! 🙂 My favorite ones are the Cargo Dress and the Flowery Romper. I’ve never heard about period-proof underwear! It seems to be very helpful. Btw, don’t worry about your non-coming period 😉 I started my period a bit early and believe me – that’s terrible, haha. Have a nice evening, Zella!!

  3. This was a great post! I love how you are modest but yet so cute and trendy! I love some of those outfits, they are awesome. You, (and your Mom too probably, lol), have great taste!!! ❤ I loved seeing those. 😀

  4. Love these outfits so much! 😀 Your first romper is SO CUTE, MY GOSH. I also love the cargo dress and the crop hoodie – though I’d definitely modestify it a bit – I have a VERY long torso.

Drop a Thought for Zella! Please be polite with your words and don't use the name of the Lord in vain! :)
